About Me
Hi there! I am an entrepreneur currently working out of Waterloo ON. I have studied in multiple countries and made my way to University of Waterloo in 2012. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Political Science on the Dean's Honours List! Yeah! I have worked at 3 fabulous places during my time in Waterloo and did four month internships at each of them.
First, I worked at Agri-Food Agriculture Canada in Ottawa, ON. My role there was a Website Analyst. I helped the organization take down old pages and revamp new ones. I also ran tests and analytics for the search bar design team. While at Agri-Food I wrote about Moringa Oliferia and it's uses to end hunger and malnutrition in children. Read about it in this blog post.
Secondly, I interned at Sendwithus in beautiful Victoria, BC. While there, I helped design the User On boarding process and create a short intro video. The work experience helped me understand full stack development and best practices around startup blogging. I wrote a blog post comparing different video animation platforms that made it to the Hacker News front page.
My last internship was at TD Bank Innovation Labs. This is a innovation center located in Kitchener, ON. My role here was an Android Developer, however as the term progressed I took more of a leadership role within the Internet of Things (IoT) team. With TD Bank, I prototyped an IoT app that helps users understand how much they are saving by reducing their furnace use. For example: 1 degree reduced on the thermostat = $1.03 in savings for the day. This app required us to understand the Ecobee API and various IoT apps. I helped guide my team by mediating decisions and being the point person to discuss progress with TD executives.
Since graduating from University of Waterloo, I have worked on my own startup. Poche Posh is a women's clothing line where every outfit has pockets. Women need more pockets in their clothing to keep up with their technology use and daily activities. The goal for Poche Posh is to create a woman empowered brand that brings equality to fashion. I started this business through the CONRAD BET program at Waterloo. It has been a wonderful journey since the inception in September 2016. Today we are a thriving Shopify store looking to grow and expand into more inventory and countries.
I am currently also studying Digital Marketing through the DISC program offered by Wilfrid Laurier University. The program is helping hone my skills in inbound marketing and using the Shopify platform. I work with a brilliant team of students to create a marketing strategy for a local business called Sweet Kyla. We are applying our knowledge from the program and making a better user experience for Sweet Kyla customers and helping advertise their amazing story.
Feel free to drop me a message to ask me any questions :)
